Low pressure, water outages as Mogale City reservoirs are filling up

In view of the many reports of low water pressure or no water supply the Mogale City Local Municipality has explained that the reservoirs are busy filling up, but it may take some time before supply is back to normal.

Mogale City Local Municipality’s water division released a statement on Thursday, November 18 saying that low water pressure is being experienced throughout Mogale City as a result of reservoirs taking some time to fill up.

Some parts of Mogale City have no water supply at all.

This is due to Rand Water’s 54-hour water shutdown in Gauteng from Monday, November 15 to Wednesday November 17.

Rand Water started pumping water into reservoirs that supply Mogale City last night and it will take some time before water supply reaches the correct levels and optimal water pressure is restored.”

At the moment most of the reservoirs that were affected are still at low levels but MCLM anticipates that as the water fills up supply to these affected areas will slowly be restored, “Although it is difficult to give exact time frames at this stage”.

Due to the unavailability of water the Licensing Service Centre has suspended its services for today. “However, people with pre-booked appointments for learners and driving licence practical tests will continue to be serviced today.”

Mogale City asks that those who do have water please use it sparingly while Rand Water remains under pressure to fill reservoirs to the required levels.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused and appeal to affected residents to please be patient as water supply is being restored.”
