Water woes: Pressure low, Licensing Office still closed

Certain areas have reported low to no water pressure and the Licensing Department is closed for the third consecutive day.

Rand Water concluded the installation of the two valve rigs on the B11 and B19 pipelines on Wednesday, November 17.

During the three-day shutdown most Mogale City households did not experience a water shortage, but reports started coming in on Thursday and Friday, November 18 and 19 of certain areas having low to no water pressure.

In an article the News published on Thursday, the Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) said low water pressure was being experienced throughout Mogale City as a result of reservoirs taking some time to fill up.

Justice Mohale, Rand Water communications representative said in a statement, “Several of Rand Water’s reservoirs are currently very low due to the recently completed maintenance programme, and will take time to recover to full capacity. Full pumping supply to these reservoirs has been restored.”

The MCLM said in a media statement, “Consequently, our Licensing Service Centre also had to suspend its services today (November 18) due to unavailability of water. However, people with pre-booked appointments for learners and driving licence practical tests will continue to be serviced today.”

The centre reportedly is still closed on Friday, November 19.

“Mogale City pleads with residents who still have water supply to please use water sparingly as Rand Water strives under a lot of pressure to get reservoirs up to required levels.”
