Water shutdowns scheduled for Mindalore

The water supply to various streets in Mindalore will be shut down this week and in the first week of March as pipelines are replaced.

The Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) recently announced a series of planned water supply shutdowns to specific streets in Mindalore.

The MCLM statement noted that, “As we begin to pick up pace in the new year, the City continues with its major water infrastructure upgrades. On Tuesday, February 22 Mogale City’s Water Services Division will resume work on Phase 3 of the Aged Pipeline Replacement Project targeted at replacing existing asbestos pipe infrastructure, that has corroded and reached the end of their lifespan, with new water pipelines.

The three-phase project started in 2021 and is expected to be fully completed by end of June 2022. This critical water infrastructure project will also aid in reducing water losses through cracked or burst asbestos pipes, and therefore improve the quality of services we render to our communities. Due to this phased work in progress, water supply to some streets in Mindalore will be suspended.”

According to the municipality, the follow streets will be affected:
• 22 February – Impala Road from 08:30 to 16:00
• 24 February – Richardson Avenue and Impala Road (on Main Reef Road) from 08:30 to 16:00
• 25 February – Michael Brink Street and Van Zyl Ham Street from 08:30 to 16:00
• 1 March – Moller Street, Exchange Road and Bow Street from 08:30 to 16:00
• 3 March – Jan van Rooyen Street and Haynes Street from 08:30 to 16:00
• 4 March – Exchange Road and Geffin Street from 09:00 to 16:00
• 5 March – Exchange Road and Rubben Street from 09:30 to 16:00

“There will be no water supply to the affected streets during the above-mentioned times, and residents are advised to make arrangements for water prior to the commencement of the shutdown.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation, and as much as we apologise for any inconvenience this will cause, this will have greater long-term benefits to all in Mogale City.”
