Accurate billing: New auto electricity metering system explained

Residents of Noordheuwel and Rangeview specifically are reminded to collect their Individual Customer Interface Unit (CIU) to monitor electricity consumption accurately.

Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) has urged residents of Noordheuwel and Rangeview (both Ext 4) to collect their Individual Customer Interface Unit (CIU) for the activation of the new automated electricity metering system from the Energy Services offices situated at Town Hall in the CBD.

According to MCLM communications officer Tendani Shavani, “Once installed, the CIU will enable you to monitor your electricity consumption and allow for remote reading of your electricity meter. This eliminates the need for manual readings and reduces the occurrence of estimated billing.

Failing to collect your CIU may result in estimated electricity bills which could be higher or lower than your actual consumption.”

She added that after collecting and installing the CIU, you can submit your meter readings through the My Municipal Meter App to ensure regular and accurate electricity meter readings.

“Submitting these readings guarantees that your future electricity bills will reflect your actual consumption.”
