WATCH: No cost, no catch with Mogale’ smart meters
Smart meter installations have started in Mogale City, and the municipality has provided some additional information of importance to the public.
Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) has launched its Smart Metering Programme – here’s what residents need to know.
MCLM communications officer Refilwe Mahlangu said only areas directly supplied by Mogale City and buildings with prepaid electricity meters, which will be replaced, are included in this programme.

“There will be no cost to residents for installation or equipment, and your electricity tariffs and consumption will not be affected,” she explained.
If anyone tries to charge you for the installation, she concluded residents should contact the municipality on customerservices@mogalecity.gov.za, 086 166 4253 or their WhatsApp line on 083 787 2814.
