Missing woman found after major joint rescue mission

Law enforcement and various private security companies worked together to rescue a young woman in Chancliff.

Several law enforcement services were recently involved in a rescue operation in which a young woman was rescued after going missing for several days.

The operation not only highlighted the importance of residents being involved in crime reporting but also the importance of Mogale City Public Safety officials and private security working together.

On November 17, a young woman was found at a campsite in Chancliff after several days of searching for her.

According to BCI Security’s Jacques Steinberg, the young woman was suicidal upon being found in the area but law enforcement was able to assist her in getting home safely. The operation was a joint effort that involved BCI, Netcare 911, JMPD and Crime Prevention Wardens. The operation was just one of the many recent efforts by these services to ensure community safety.

”We reach out to various schools, engage with teachers, learners and parents, and teach them how to play a role in crime fighting. We have workshops and programmes in which we teach them to be aware of what type of equipment they can use, from security cameras to using intercoms and joining CPFs,” Steinberg said.

The most recent collaboration between private security and Public Safety was a simulation which took place on October 25.

“Simulations are designed to assess emergency services’ response times, from the initial activation to the arrival at the scene. They are not just about testing the skills of the services but also about evaluating how various services collaborate as a unit. This includes integrating off-site resources, such as helicopter medical teams, hospital personnel, K9 units, and security services.

“The goal is to ensure that all members of public safety services involved are ready to manage trauma patients effectively and that the coordination between all services is seamless. These exercises allow the services to identify areas for improvement, strengthen teamwork, and ways to improve the community.”
