Making friends through sport
A recent sports day at Silverfields Primary brought children together.
Boys and girls from all over the ‘world’ flocked to Silverfields Primary on Saturday, 7 September, to compete in netball and soccer tournaments.
At precisely 1pm, the matches started.
According to Penny Motaung, the sports organiser, the festival aimed to bring children together, encourage teamwork and reduce bullying. Each team represented a different country.

“There was such a wonderful vibe between staff members and parents, contributing greatly to the success of the event. We had a successful sports day which was enjoyed by both parents and children,” Penny said.
No winners were announced, because the day was about enjoying sports and making friends. They did however hand out a few awards.
The most enthusiastic players were Ntando Adeboye and Abigail Swart, while Kgothatso Mphirimi and Tokollo Monthato were awarded good sportsmanship trophies.
Tshenolo Motaung and Lesego Sibanyoni were the two players with the most tenacity and the players of the festival were Kgosi Diale and Chantel Ndlovu.
