Brad’s Aussie comeback

South African rider Brad Binder made a strong comeback at Phillip Island, finishing eighth after starting 16th – marking his fourth consecutive points finish.

Krugersdorp MotoGP racer Brad Binder took to the land down under at the Liqui Moly Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix and secured a top 10 spot.

Binder started from 16th on the grid on October 19, and according to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team, he moved up to finish eighth.

“This marked his fourth points-scoring ride in a row,” the team announced.

Binder added that the race was a bit tricky for him.

“I had a really good start and got in the mix. You really had to protect the rear tire because it was easy to mess up the edge,” he said.

“I tried to be clever with that and was riding very clean, but it still dropped a lot at the end. I was really clear on what we need to improve to go faster. Otherwise, I can’t complain too much – 16th to eighth and decent pace,” he added.

Binder earned eight points at this Grand Prix. He is currently 12th in the Championship Standings with 126 points.

He will race again this weekend, October 24 to 26 at the Petronas Grand Prix of Malaysia.
