Krugersdorp’s Brad overcomes challenges at MotoGP Japan

South African MotoGP racer Brad Binder, from Krugersdorp, secured 12th place in the 24-lap Japanese Grand Prix on September 28.

For the 17th round of this MotoGP season, Brad raced at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan, and according to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team, he pulled away from position 18 and advanced to 12th, despite facing tyre wear and wheelspin.

Brad said it was a difficult weekend.

“I had a really good start, but we had a lot of chatter from the beginning, which made it difficult to ride the bike.”

He added that the wheelspin ate at his tyres and that it was very tough not to take advantage of the drive and corner entry.

“If we can get to a circuit where we can lessen the chatter, then we can do something; hopefully in the next one,” he stated.

Brad is currently 11th in the Championship Standings, with 105 points to his name. He will race again at the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia this weekend, October 3 to 5.
