Binder secures another top 10 finish at Malaysian MotoGP

Binder bounced back after a challenging Sprint race to finish ninth in Malaysia. The South African rider now focuses on building momentum for the upcoming Qatar Grand Prix.

For the 20th out of 22 rounds, local MotoGP racer Brad Binder took to the Malaysian Grand Prix this past weekend, finishing in the top 10.

This grand prix on October 26 saw Binder rise from 18th on the grid to a ninth-place finish. According to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team, he expertly preserved his grip potential at the grand prix and in conditions that were tough for tire-wear.

They continued his pace was mixed for his strong performance to catch up and also to preserve rubber. He moved up six spots in the first lap.

It was a bit of a challenge for Binder to start 18th.

“It was a decent-enough come back but I would have preferred better. I knew it was a race where we really had to manage the tyres and I got the rear to the end okay,” Binder explained.

“After the drama of the Sprint [on Saturday], I had a normal bike again today and everything felt good. I was a bit nervous, but didn’t end up in the same situation as Saturday, which was good. In general, we just need to find a bit of extra speed to qualify better and then race better,” he concluded.

Brad is currently 12th in the Championship Standings and will race again at the Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Portugal from November 7 to 9.
