Limpopo's Mama Beka Foundation launches 2025 Grannies International Football Tournament, promoting healthy living among elderly women.

LIMPOPO – The Mama Beka Foundation officially launched the 2025 Grannies International Football Tournament (GIFT) on Thursday, November 28, at Mercurius Motors in Polokwane.

The tournament, inspired by Vakhegula Vakhegula (Grannies) team founder Beka Ntsanwisi, aims to bring together granny football teams from South Africa and around the world.

The second edition of the tournament will be held from April 2 to April 5 at the Nkowankowa Stadium. The launch event was hosted by the foundation in partnership with the Limpopo Chamber of Commerce.

The GIFT tournament, which promotes healthy living among elderly women, made headlines in 2023 as the first international granny football tournament.

For the 2025 edition, teams from the USA, France, Mauritius, Togo, Kenya, Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe have confirmed their participation.
