Tzaneen Bowls Club honours players at awards evening

Tzaneen Bowls Club celebrated top players and facility upgrades at their awards evening, highlighting achievements and growing membership.

TZANEEN – Tzaneen Bowls Club celebrated the achievements of their members at an awards evening at the clubhouse last week.

Ernst Swiglaar, president of the club honoured the members who completed their markers courses, and the achievements of the best players throughout the 2024 season were also celebrated.

Sarie Vermaak got her name on the honours board by claiming the Champion of Champion title for Tzaneen Bowls Club. Sarie, Stoffel Vermaak, Ansie Taute and Willie Jonker were also commended for taking second place in the Limpopo fours tournament.

Jonker had a good year on the greens and was honoured with teammate, Jorge Freitas for winning the Limpopo pairs title.

Swiglaar was excited to share the improvements done to the club facilities over the last couple of months.

The club renovated the foyer, added brand new curtains, a well-organised bowls closet, and shading for the deck area.

He said that the club was happy to announce that the membership numbers are growing, and he honoured the club’s sponsors for their support throughout the year.
