Limpopo u/13 cricket team shines at CSA Regional Week

The Limpopo u/13 cricket team impressed at the 2024 Cricket South Africa Regional Week in Pretoria with standout performances.

TZANEEN – Limpopo u/13 boys cricket team participated in the 2024 Cricket South Africa Regional Week that was hosted in Pretoria by the Momentum Titans.

The boys had a disappointing start to the week by losing to Namibia by 4 wickets. Rudo Rheeders was the standout performer with 43 runs.

The local boys redeemed themselves against Mpumalanga winning by an outstanding 8 wicket victory with good performances from Dandries Verster scoring 85 and Tshidiso Manyama adding 42 runs, both players had an outstanding partnership of 127 runs.

MJ Snyman and Rheeders claimed 4 wickets each, making difficult for Mpumalanga to develop partnerships.

The Limpopo boys went on to face the Lions Yellow team which was going to be a test for the local team. Limpopo batted first posting a healthy 239 all out with massive contributions from Verster 69 runs, SD Viljoen 54 runs, and Willem Mostert adding 35 runs.

The bowling unfortunately could not restrict Lions Yellow from reaching the target but a pillar in the attack was Tanish Patel with figures of 3/23 in 6 overs.

The Limpopo boys went on to challenge Eastern’s Blue in a T20 match where Limpopo was victorious by 43 runs, with Viljoen stamping his authority by demolishing the Eastern’s bowling line up by scoring 71 runs, and Verster building on the previous match scoring 67 runs.

Snyman once again made it difficult for the opposition to score by taking another 4 sticks for 21 runs.

Verster was awarded the player of the tournament by his outstanding batting leading the pack with 231 runs, and three 50’s with a strike rate of 120.3.

Snyman finished second on the bowling logs with 11 wickets, and a best of 4/2.
