First Hoedspruit wildlife trail run ‘unforgettable’

Runners conquered wild trails as the Pam Golding Wildlife Estate Series kicked off with thrilling races and standout performances.

LIMPOPO – The first edition of the Pam Golding Wildlife Estate Series, a trail running series of four events, was hosted on Saturday, March 29, at the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate.

“What an amazing weekend it was at the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate trail run. We were blown away by the energy, enthusiasm, and sheer determination of every runner who tackled our beautiful trails. Your passion for adventure and the great outdoors truly made this event unforgettable,” said Belinda Barkas of Lowveld Trail Running.

In the 20km men’s category, David Rose came in first with 01:31:37 on the clock, followed by Laurens Beeslaar in 01:31:43, and in third place was Thobani Shelembe in a time of 01:38:04.

In the women’s category, Gia Byren was first to cross the finish line in a time of 1:46:21. She was followed by Evie Smith-Lomas at 01:57:59 and in third place was Magz de La Kethulle de Ryhove in a time of 02:01:57.

In the veteran men’s category, Alloise Mdlhovu came in first in a time of 01:39:13, followed by Grant Lapping in 01:41:28, and in third place was Jon Morrow in a time of 01:58:37.

In the master men’s category, Rolf Sippel was first in 01:54:36, followed by Johannes JB Burger in 02:27:10 and third place went to Stefan Horn in a time of 01:38:10.

In the master women’s category, first place went to Beverley Terblanche in a time of 02:15:48, followed by Letitia Sippel in 02:55:59 and third place Heila van Eck in 03:06:19.

In the 12km men’s u/18 category, it was Wilveco Beeslaar in a time 0:51:21 to cross the finish line, followed by Ethan Britz in 01:10:12.

In the 18-and-over category for men, first place went to JK Maubane in a time of 0:56:11, followed by Tyrone Jooste in 01:00:42, and third place was Jason Kipling in 01:03:37.

In the women’s category, first place went to Megan Grant in a time of 01:10:09, followed by Simone Erasmus in 01:13:16, and in third place was Penny Telfer in 01:14:37.

“We are already looking forward to the next adventure. Mark your calendars for the Zandspruit Bush and Aero Estate Trail Run on April 26. Get ready for more breathtaking scenery and exhilarating trails. We also want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible sponsors, without whom this event would not have been possible,” she said.
