Maruleng Celtic FC dominates at the ABC Motsepe League

Maruleng Celtic defeated Giyani Happy Boys 2-1 in an away game in the ABC Motsepe League on Saturday at Xikukwani Stadium, taking the local team from seventh on the log to fifth place.

It came as a shock to the Happy Boys that Celtic, with four points out of four games and in 7th position, could win them. Giyani Happy Boys’ coach started the game with a weaker team hoping to pull off a miracle. However, Maruleng Celtic were prepared and wanted to improve their standing in the league. They started the first half with a huge push, throwing in everything they had as they tried to score early goals.

For almost the entire first half, Maruleng Celtic dominated the game, putting a tremendous amount of pressure on the host team; and it did not take long before they found the net. The second goal came a moment later just as the Happy Boys were still disoriented and wondering what had happened with the first goal.

Now behind by two goals, the Happy Boys made a strong comeback attempt to level the score, but it was too late to catch up before the end of the first half. In the second half, the Happy Boys continued their offensive, putting up a remarkable fight that saw the visitors hang on for dear life as they struggled to fend off attacks from all directions. The Happy Boys eventually managed to sneak a goal into the net just a few minutes into the second half.

However, that did not change their fate; the match still ended with them one goal behind, an embarrassing loss at home. Celtic celebrated their deservedly 2-1 victory over the home team. Maruleng Celtic went from seventh to fifth place on the log in the league as a result, while the host team dropped from fourth to sixth position.
