Phalaborwa XI, HSA 1 through to Hoedspruit 100 final
Cricket fans can look forward to the Hoedspruit 100 finals this weekend (July 18-19), with four playoff matches deciding placings before Sunday's showdown.
HOEDSPRUIT – A weekend packed with dominant batting displays, clinical bowling performances and two memorable upsets has set the stage for an exciting conclusion to the inaugural Hoedspruit 100 cricket tournament, with the finals taking place this coming weekend.
The playoff matches produced plenty of entertainment as teams battled for final placings and a coveted spot in Sunday’s grand final.

Conservation Cricketers cruise into the playoffs
The action got underway on Saturday when the Conservation Cricketers produced a commanding performance against the HSA Octopi Cubs.
After winning the toss and choosing to field, the Cricketers restricted the Cubs to just 81 runs before comfortably chasing down the target in only 59 balls to secure their place in the fifth and sixth-place playoff.

Pretorius, De Boer put on a batting clinic
Saturday’s second fixture saw HSA 1 deliver one of the finest batting performances of the tournament. Opting to bat first, they amassed an imposing 187/2, thanks to a spectacular partnership between Kyle Pretorius and Neil de Boer.
Pretorius narrowly missed out on a century after smashing 93 runs from 56 deliveries, while De Boer added a blistering 70 off just 37 balls.
Serurubele Development fought hard but could only manage 99/6 from their 100 balls, handing HSA 1 a convincing victory and a place in the grand final.
Phalaborwa spoil the party
Phalaborwa XI stunned the fancied Black Mambas after restricting them to 83/6 before cruising to victory in just 53 balls.
The match also saw Phalaborwa’s Kunene Nkuna continue his outstanding tournament, claiming two more wickets to take his tally to an impressive 15 wickets.

Down to the wire for Team 11
The final playoff match delivered the weekend’s biggest drama. HSA 2 posted a competitive 123/5, but Team 11 held their nerve in a tense chase that went down to the penultimate delivery.
Team 11 reached 124/6 on the 99th ball to claim a thrilling one-wicket victory and book their place in the fifth and sixth-place playoff.
Tournament organiser Mickey Buyst said the quality of cricket throughout the playoffs was outstanding.
“We saw brilliant individual performances, incredible team spirit and two fantastic upsets that reminded everyone why this format is so exciting and the support from the community has been phenomenal,” said Buyst.
Finals fever hits Hoedspruit
On Saturday, HSA 2 will face the HSA Octopi Cubs in the seventh and eighth-place playoff from 09:30 to 12:30, before the Conservation Cricketers take on Team 11 in the fifth and sixth-place playoff from 13:30 to 16:30.
On Sunday, Serurubele Development will meet the Black Mambas in the third and fourth-place playoff from 09:30 to 12:30.
The tournament will conclude with the grand finale, where Phalaborwa XI will face HSA 1 from 13:30 to 16:30, followed by the prize-giving ceremony.
