Media and influencers swapped city streets for luxury tents, pine forests, and the great outdoors, as Savanna showcased how it blends adventure, laughter, and crisp cider into the ultimate 'We Outside' lifestyle.
Savanna Premium Cider recently relaunched its iconic 500ml Can with a vibrant, experience-driven two-night event in the Elgin Valley, Cape Town — Camp Savivi.
Media and influencers swapped city streets for luxury tents, pine forests, and the great outdoors, as Savanna showcased how it blends adventure, laughter, and crisp cider into the ultimate “We Outside” lifestyle.
Adventure and outdoor fun
Held at Bloekombos Camp, Camp Savivi offered a carefully curated programme that combined braai culture, comedy, culinary creativity, and even a safari drive.
Guests were welcomed at The Bar Outside, a dedicated entertainment space curated by musician J’Something in partnership with The Artistry, where the festivities were kicked off by stand-up performances from South African comedians Mpho Popps, Tsitsi Chiumya, Themba Robin, and Farieda Metsileng, who had guests in stitches right from the start.
J’Something also led a spontaneous freestyle jam with the comedians, performing the song It Comes and Goes, and treated guests to fan favourites from his group, MiCasa.
No outdoor adventure would be complete without a safari, and Savanna’s version came with a comedic spin. Guests were driven through the forest, spotting impalas, springboks, zebras, and deer, all while Robin, the MC, narrated the drive with witty commentary.
The safari naturally led into the Apple Scavenger Hunt, a challenge that combined strategy, speed, and teamwork.
Teams were given Savanna retro coolers and tasked with collecting as many apples as possible from the forest in five minutes. The catch? Only one team member could carry a single apple at a time, resulting in chaos, laughter, and a winning team.
Food and culinary creativity
Food was front and centre at Camp Savivi. Chef and food content creator Sebastian Newman shared his top picnic and braai basket combos for a true “We Outside” moment.
“I keep it classic with chops, wors, wings, chakalaka, potato salad, rolls, and something sweet like koeksisters or fruit. Add a cheese-and-biltong platter and, of course, a chilled Savanna cider — it works anywhere,” Newman told The Citizen.
For comedian and host Themba Robin, the ideal braai spot is his home, fully stocked and ready.
“I’ve got the whole setup — fridges, braai, everything. Essentials? Firelighters, good wood, quality meat, and an ice-cold Savanna,” he shared.
Fashion influencer and DJ Kagiso Mogola offered style tips for outdoor gatherings, suggesting a blend of casual comfort and flair.
“Come looking sexy — jeans, crop tops, whatever makes you feel good. Don’t forget a hat for the sun, a Savanna raincoat for summer showers, and a cooler box stacked with Savannas,” Mogola added.
Culinary creativity reached its peak with the Great Camp Cook-Off Challenge, hosted and judged by J’Something. Teams drew mystery ingredient boxes featuring Moroccan, South African, Indian, and Asian cuisine elements, preparing potjies over open flames, with the option to customise dombolo to accompany their dishes.
The Savanna experience
Eon Jacobs, Junior Brand Manager for Savanna Premium Cider, said the weekend captured what the brand stands for.
“We’re outside with Savanna — the same cider you know and love, now in a Can. Camp Savivi was about bonding, laughter, and being together in the outdoors. Rain or shine, it’s what Savanna does best. And with the success of this camp, we’re already thinking about making it bigger and more consumer-facing next time.”
Savanna has returned with its 500ml Can, offering a convenient, portable way to enjoy its signature crisp, dry cider. Perfect for any celebration or outdoor gathering, the can makes it easy to take the drink anywhere — whether relaxing at home, joining a pop-up event, or heading out for a weekend in nature.
Made from carefully selected apples and cold-filtered for a crisp and dry finish, the Savanna 500ml Can delivers the familiar taste fans love, now in a format designed for life on the move. Like all Savanna products, it is crafted to be enjoyed responsibly and only by those aged 18 and above.
