Countdown to Christmas: Delicious cocktails to sum up your festivities

Some of our favourite cocktails – easy to make and an absolute Christmas delight!


There is nothing like a perfect cocktail recipe to ring in the festive season, and with just a few quick and easy steps you can have a blissful Christmas.

And you can do that with as few ingredients as possible.

Here’s how.

Pom-Lime French 75

Ingredients

Pomegranate and lime gives a delicious boost to the classic gin-and-bubbly cocktail.

  • 1/4 c. gin
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. fresh lime juice
  • 1 tbsp. Pomegranate-Lime Syrup (recipe below)
  • 1/4 c. sparkling wine
  • Pomegranate seeds, for serving
  • Lime twist, for serving

Directions

  1. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake gin, lime juice and Pomegranate-Lime Syrup. 
  2. Strain into flute and top with sparkling wine.
  3. Serve with a lime twist and pomegranate seeds.

Cosmopolitan

The Cosmopolitan is a pop culture icon which has become a modern classic for good reason: the cocktail is as eye-catching as it is delicious.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. vodka
  • 1 oz. Cointreau
  • 1 oz. cranberry juice
  • 1 oz. fresh lime juice
  • Lime slice or twist, for serving

Directions

  • In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake all ingredients until chilled.
  • Strain into coupe glass and serve with a lime slice or twist. 

Negroni

Originating in Florence in 1919, this bright, Campari-based cocktail became a social media sensation.

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. gin
  • 1 oz. sweet vermouth
  • 1 oz. Campari
  • Orange twist, for serving

Directions

  • Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass filled with ice and stir until chilled.
  • Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice, then squeeze the orange twist over it and drop it into the glass. 

Blood Orange Spritz

This delightful aperitif is the love-child of an Aperol spritz and a mimosa, and an absolute delight to share amongst family for Christmas.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. blood orange juice
  • 1 tbsp. Aperol
  • Sparkling wine
  • Blood orange twist, for serving 

Directions

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Add blood orange juice and Aperol and shake well for a minute. 
  3. Strain into a champagne coupe and top with sparkling wine.
  4. Serve with a blood orange twist.
