All eyes were on social media when Springbok scrumhalf Francios ‘Faf’ de Klerk married Miné van Niekerk, in Franschhoek in October 2022.
Pharmacist Miné, who captured the curiosity of social media and previously known as Faf’s long-time girlfriend, holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwest University and worked at her father’s pharmacy in the Northern Cape town of Postmasburg.
Faf was based in Manchester, while Miné was in South Africa. The long-distance affected their relationship so greatly that they mutually agreed to become buddies.

But love always triumphs, and when Faf returned home to play for the Boks and reached out to her to retrieve her stuff, they ended up reconciling.

They spent much of the Covid-19 pandemic together, sequestered in a Cape Town hotel, and knew they were destined to be.
They got engaged in May 2022 and married in October at the La Paris Estate, Western Cape.
She is one of the rugby Wags (wives and girlfriends of high-profile sportsmen and women), whom people are always curious about, as she snagged a darling of many a South African rugby squad fan.

When it comes to style Miné is a cut above the rest. Her exquisitely designed wedding dress is a stunning one-of-a-kind piece that may have many brides wanting the same.
She tends to keep a low profile while allowing her husband to shine as he plays in the 2023 Rugby World Cup squad in France, but she has captured fans’ attention and hearts with her ladylike qualities.

Side style
Miné chose a beautiful off-the-shoulder white wedding gown with a belt and a classic white train on her wedding day in Franschhoek.
The dress’ buttoning details are exquisitely placed, and while the opposite side has a longer sleeve with a collar, the dress is high fashion in a way reminiscent of a 1970s-era design with a touch of the 2000s. If there were an award she would nail ‘the best wedding dress of 2022/2023’ gong.
Certainly, it is a statement piece that deserves to be worn again if the pair choose to renew their vows in the future.
The gown was created by celebrity designer L E N A L I S A, who frequently apparel celebrities for special occasions. Faf complimented her in a three-piece suit, that was an ivy green shade.
The cut of the dress is reminiscent of the 70’s, when dresses with long silhouettes, and off-the-shoulder sleeves, grew in popularity.
However, this dress has a contemporary twist in the detailing.
Shining star
In a picture wishing her gorgeous mother Rene a happy 60th birthday photographed during her bridal lunch, both ladies are practically twinning in similar design outfits.
Miné wears a pink sequenced ruched above-the-knee dress with long sleeves and a lower asymmetrical cut at the bottom, while her mother wears a ruched black dress.
She wears it with pink strappy sandals. Her style is elegant, minimalistic, and understated, while still making a clear fashion statement that she drips with elegance.
Fuchsia finds
On the beach, Miné is dressed in a two-piece fuchsia summer playsuit.
The hem of the top is delicately stitched with white thread, and the pleated shorts are folded at the bottom.
Her style appears to be to keep accessories to a minimum, with only a clock on her arm. It’s safe to say that pink is definitely her shade.
