Five survive head-on collision near KaMagugu

One victim was extricated with the Jaws of Life. All the occupants of the vehicles were transported to the hospital for further treatment.

Five victims suffered minor to serious injuries when a VW Polo and an armoured vehicle collided on the KaNyamazane Road, between KaMagugu and Mbombela, on December 18.

The Polo was travelling from KaMagugu with two occupants while the armoured vehicle, with three occupants, was travelling from Mbombela when the collision occurred.

According to Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med, one was ejected from the Polo while the other occupant was entrapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated with the Jaws of Life. They were transported to a hospital by other emergency medical services.

Jeffrey said one guard in the armoured vehicle sustained serious head lacerations, while the two others suffered minor injuries. They were treated and transported to a nearby hospital by Emer-G-Med.
