The Mpumalanga Matric Class of 2023 had a pass rate of 77% for the NSC exams. The Ehlanzeni Region obtained a pass rate of 81,8%, the highest pass rate of all the regions in the Province for the NSC exams. The country’s pass  rate for the NSC exams for 2023 was 82,9%, the highest percentage in the NSC exam history so far.

Penryn achieved a 100% pass rate for the 2023 IEB exams with a 96% bachelor’s pass.

The Matric Class of 2023 obtained 86 distinctions and an additional 20 learners achieved between one and two distinctions. Penryn also achieved the position of top 1% of candidates in Business Studies, Portuguese second additional language and Siswati first additional language.

Through a wide range of extracurricular activities, community service initiatives and leadership programmes, scholars are encouraged to explore their passions, develop their talents and cultivate a strong sense of social awareness, preparing them to be compassionate and effective leaders in their communities and beyond. Uplands College is delighted to announce the remarkable achievements of the Matric Class of 2023, once again attaining a 100% pass rate.

Notably, an impressive 96% of the graduating learners have met the requirements for bachelor’s degree studies, solidifying the institution’s commitment to excellence in education.

Four Uplands matric graduates distinguished themselves in the top
1% in South Africa across three subjects, showcasing the calibre of education provided at Uplands.

Uplands achieved outstanding overall results, with 21% of grades being As and 13 subject averages surpassing the national IEB average. An impressive 11 subjects recorded averages above 70%.

Jade Tinker achieved an outstanding seven distinctions, ranking in the top 1% for business studies and dramatic arts. Claudia Klesse secured seven distinctions and was listed in the top 1% for business studies.

Eden Izeboud attained six distinctions, with a top 1% placement in business studies.

Demelza Awogu achieved six distinctions. Sanele Mpofu excelled in isiZulu first additional language, ranking in the top 1% for this subject.

Several learners achieved high distinctions, including five distinctions for Torr Turner, Delouise Alberts, Nicholas Ross and Lesedi Sedibe.

Those who achieved four distinctions were Nthabiseng de Almeida, Lara Vienings, Caitlin Davids and Sanele Mpofu. The learners who secured three distinctions were Eden Stone, Palesa Mazibuko, Isabella Wood, Danilo Tajú and Miria Hadjicosti.

Laing expressed his immense pride in the learners’ achievements, emphasising the impact of their success as a lasting legacy for future generations.

Curro Nelspruit’s Matric Class of 2023 achieved exceptional results in the IEB exams, with a 100% pass rate and a grade average of 64.9%.

From humble beginnings in 2012, Curro Nelspruit grew from only 400 learners to more than 1 300, 11 years later.

Not only did we excel on the sports fields in 2023, with numerous learners obtaining their provincial colours in various sporting codes, but also in culture, with a memorable Ukudala talent showcase, and many other accolades for excellent performances.

Today we celebrate the outstanding academic achievements of the IEB Matric Class of 2023. With a grade average of 64.9%, this class achieved a 100% pass rate with 100% university exemption. Thirteen candidates reached an overall aggregate of 80% or above.

Our phenomenal dux scholar, Ané Blom’s efforts were rewarded with an aggregate of 88%, accomplishing distinctions in Afrikaans home language, English first additional language, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, physical sciences and computer applications technology.

The following learners are ranked in the top 1% of the IEB NSC: Julia van Aardt for business studies and Paige Lombaard and Wyatt Cleaver for tourism.

Curro Nelspruit has a high school in Sonheuwel (The Rest Nature Estate) that provides excellent Curro education to learners from grades eight to 12.

Hoërskool Bergvlam behaal ’n uitstekende 99%-slaagsyfer in 2023 se Nasionale Seniorsertifikaateskamen en is een van die top skole in Mpumalanga.

Bergvlam prioritised the academic year’s activities by focusing on thorough planning, effective contact time, extended academic time after hours and online digital education opportunities for all learners. Hoërskool Bergvlam is ’n multikulturele dubbelmedium- sekondêre skool in Mbombela.

Die  volgende Vlammies het puik presteer en behaal elk vyf onderskeidings: Ibrahim Guman, Phodisho Moloto en Ndumiso Skhosana.

Daar is ook menige matrieks wat spog met een tot vier onderskeidings.

Die skool spog ook met 74% van sy leerders wat met universiteitstoelating (baccalaureus) geslaag het.

The learners achieved a 81.8% university pass rate. They obtained 81 distinctions.

Some outstanding individual achievements were also made: Kaila van den Heever obtained eight distinctions, Kevin Pulikkal and Raghav Rajeev obtained six distinctions, Carmen Rothman, Daniel Erasmus, Marli Scott, Nompendulo Mambane and Ruben le Roux obtained five distinctions and Owethu Maluka and Coli Mashile both obtained four distinctions.

Beacon College boasts a 100% pass rate

Beacon College in Malalane is beaming with joy after receiving a 100% pass rate for the 2023 matric class.

The Grade 12 learners came together to enjoy cake while collecting their statements from the school.

The school’s CEO, Surendran Nair, says he is very proud of the learners and all the supporting staff including the parents, teachers and all the stakeholders.

“It took a collective effort to get where we are today and we are happy to see our children enjoying the fruits of their labour. Everyone was fully involved in the strategies that we used to get here and we pat them on the shoulder,” said Nair.

The school received 54 bachelor passes, 14 diplomas and one higher certificate.
