Badly injured man bashes Ga-Mampuru Clinic
Malatji pleaded with the Limpopo MEC for health, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, to monitor local clinics.
STEELPOORT – Not only Dilokong Hospital is accused of rendering poor services. A patient at Ga-Mampuru Clinic (Boschkloof) described the clinic conditions and treatment as “shocking and tragic”.
He had allegedly received appalling treatment at the health institution and was afraid he might be disabled because of the clinic’s negligence.
Jackson Malatji from Ga-Mampuru said he almost chopped off his hand while cutting wood and had to be taken to the clinic.
“I was bleeding profusely. When I arrived, the nurses said they could not assist me as I didn’t have my identity document. It seems they changed their minds and directed me to stand in a queue.

“I stood on the line, bleeding for more than 30 minutes, with no one assisting me. When I tried questioning them, they insisted I have to stay in the line like everyone.”
According to Malatji, he left the clinic when he realised he might not be assisted.
“My situation was an emergency. I was losing more blood and I was feeling dizzy. I had to drive myself to a private doctor. Along the way, I almost knocked someone’s car, because I was losing my vision as I was dizzy,” added Malatji.
The patient told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that he is recovering at home after getting treatment from a private doctor.
“I went to Boschkloof thinking I was going to get help, but instead I had to spent more cash at a doctor.”
Malatji pleaded with the Limpopo MEC for health, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, to monitor local clinics. The newspaper forwarded queries to the spokesperson of the health department, Neil Shikwambane, and the MEC’s spokesperson, Thilivhali Muavha.
They promised to respond to queries, but at the time of going to press neither had.
