Charges withdrawn against Prince

A string of rape and sexual assault charges against Prince Mnisi, have been withdrawn in the Middelburg Magistrate's Court, with the court ordering that they may not be reinstated without written consent from the National Prosecution Authority.

Mnisi (47) who resides in A.G. Visser Street in Gholfsig, faced 14 charges of rape of minor girls ranging from 11 to 16 years, as well as three charges of sexual assault.

In October last year only one of the three state witnesses came to court proceedings. Allegations were made that they were forced to give statements against their will.

The state requested a postponement to consult with the state witnesses and investigate the allegations about the statements.

In January, the state officially withdrew the charges against Mnisi.
