Police warn elderly – ‘You are being targeted’
The Middelburg police have issued a warning after an increase in the robbery of elderly residents.
Capt. Khanyisile Zwane, police spokesperson, said that there has been an increase in people over the age 70 being robbed outside banks and filling stations.

“Avoid walking around with a handbag that can be grabbed. The elderly are easy targets, criminals know that,” capt. Zwane advised.

She also warned against people carrying expensive items in public and said that people should carry their items on them in person so as to avoid being identified as an easy target.
If possible, take someone with you when you go to visit the bank or a filling station.
