Pastor cleared of rape charge

A well known pastor has been cleared of a rape charge due to a lack of evidence.

The pastor’s step-daughter accused him of rape earlier in 2017. Community members protested outside the Middelburg Magistrate Court during his previous appearance in August.

Protesters were upset when news of the withdrawal of the case reached their ears last week.

The case was withdrawn due to a lack of evidence. The pastor’s identity cannot be revealed in order to protect the identity of the victim.
