Body wrapped in blanket found at Avontuur
The body of a man was discovered with a black bag wrapped around his head at Avontuur on Sunday.
Police can confirm that the body is not that of a black or colored man, from the texture of his hair.
Apart from the bag around the man’s head, the body was found wrapped in a blanket.
The man is believed to be between the ages of 30 and 40-years.
The body has decomposed significantly and the cause of death is still unknown, though police confirmed that the man had an open wound on the left side of his head.
The body was found with the man’s hands bound behind his head.
He was dressed in a t-shirt and beige pants, without shoes.
The man had nothing in his possession that could help police identify him.
Pathologists estimate that the body had been lying there for to two weeks.
The SAPS cannot confirm whether the body was dumped, or if the man had been murdered on the spot where his body was found.
Police urge members of the community to report all missing persons in an effort to help identify the victim.
