Mr Mahlangu, who was stationed at the Provincial Traffic Department in Middelburg, was shot and killed on 4 July outside his mothers’ home in Vlaklaagte 2, Kwamhlanga.

The traffic officer was reversing his car when a sedan appeared out of nowhere. A man climbed out of the car, fired several shots at him and ran off.

He was rushed to a nearby clinic where he was declared dead on arrival.

The Provincial Commissioner said that the issuing of these rewards will help the police in strengthening their investigations.

“We believe that the community will surely come forth with information that will assist the police to speedily resolve these cases. The approval of these rewards does not mean that the police are doing nothing with an attempt to trace those responsible. There are task teams formed that are currently in place comprising of different role players. We want to unleash all avenues that will assist in the investigations,” added Lt Gen Magadlela.
