Police officers sleep on duty

Four police officers were found sound fast asleep when a resident went to the radio control room to report a matter.

The person (who wants to stay anonymous) said he was awakened by the idling of a vehicle in front of Summerset Gardens.

He went outside and found a police vehicle which were idling with a person inside. After more than an hour, he decided to report the matter at the police station, because the person in the vehicle did not hear him when he called out.

On his arrival at 00:30 (28 August) he could not find someone to help him at the front desk and went to the radio control room to see if there were maybe someone else to see to his complaint.

He was surprised when he found four police officers, three women and a man, in dreamland.

• The photo’s were send to the media office on Monday. Communications Officer Captain Khanyisile Zwane, said that she sent the photo’s to management and said that they will respond shortly.

When she first heard about the photo’s, she said that “no policeman can sleep on duty!”

• She also asked if there might not be a possibility if the photo’s were not taken from the Internet. If one look at the background on the left, the local radio control room’s number is on the wall.
