Water restrictions still applies

Currently there are no new water restrictions in place except for the water restrictions that were already in place from November 2015, which still applies.

Offences are punishable with fines of R1 500 or more. Offences include the use of irrigation systems for gardens and lawns, washing of paved areas and vehicles with a hose pipe and not a bucket, and any other activity wasting water unnecessarily.

Water levels are always changing especially due to the higher demand for it in the summer and while the water situation is still manageable.

The Assistant Director of Communications for Steve Tshwete

Municipality, Prudence Magutle, has urged that residents adhere to the restrictions and should play

their part in water conservation.•Middelburg Dam was 61.6 % full on the 11th of January 2016.
