Local junior racers in Club Championship
The two sons of former Northern Regions Rally Champion Michael Otto, Milan (9) and Giovanne (7), along with the son of local rally driver Willie van Straaten, WJ (8), continue to win their own trophies as they participate for the third year in a row at The Rand Kart Club Championship and the Northern Regions Championship in their division.
The second round of The Rand Kart Club Championship takes place this weekend at Zwartkops and the boys are excited about the race.
“Giovanne did really well in the last round with a third place overall finish. Milan and WJ also finished their races so we’re really proud of them,” Ronel Otto said.
Milan and WJ compete in the Maxterino Class and Giovanne participates in the Micro Rock Class.
The boys have been participating competitively in the sport for three years already and are being groomed with the professional experience of their parents.
Ronel said although it was still early in the season the boys had a good first couple of races with strong finishes.
“They are improving every season but the races are always tightly contested. We’re hoping for an exciting season with some great results,” said Ronel.
