On Monday morning Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a collision on the N4 at the Schoemanskloof split that goes to Waterval Boven. Reports from the scene indicate that the Truck was joining the N4 when the taxi collided into his side. Exact detail to the cause of the crash is still speculative and will form part of the police investigation.

Paramedics and the fire department arrived at the scene and found that the male driver and a female passenger were still trapped in the wreckage with critical injuries. Five other commuters sustained serious injuries.

The fire department had to get the tow truck to remove the taxi from under the truck before they could use the Jaws of Life to free the injured. Paramedics stabilised the injured before they were transported to hospital for further care.
