House engulfed by fire

Residents of Rose Quartz Street in Middelburg experienced a dramatic Saturday afternoon when a house was engulfed by fire and was literally destroyed in a matter of minutes.

A large part of the home, consisting of two bedrooms at the back, will have to be rebuild.

Firemen quickly contained the fire to the two bedrooms at the back, preventing it from spreading to the rest of the house.

The owner of the house, introduced to www.mobserver.co.za as Mr Mnguni, watched helplessly while everyone jumped in to help remove furniture and personal belongings that could be salvaged from the fire.

He couldn’t say where or how the fire started. Residents fled the house when they realized that the fire had become uncontrollable.

The caved in roof caused most damage to parts of the house, undamaged by the fire.
