Third day of #coffincase trial

The third day of the coffin case trial is set to start in the Middelburg Magistrate Court. Keep an eye on the website for regular updates and photos of trial proceedings.

Delton Sithole, the second witness called by the state, will be in the witness stand once again this morning, for adv. Org Basson to complete his cross examination.

Yesterday Sithole testified how he was confronted by Willem Oosthuyzen, accused number one in the matter, whilst underway to the Big House sqatter camp and confronted with a firearm.

He was later accosted by Theo Jackson, accused number two. Sithole alleged that he was kicked by both accused and called derogatory names. He testified that he was let go when the accused caught Victor Mlotshwa.

Oosthuyzen and Jackon are on trial for putting Victor Mlotshwa in a coffin, threatening to pour petrol over him as well as for the assault on Delton Sithole where an alleged illegal firearm was used.

Adv. Basson said that Sithole’s story sounds improbable to him. He had Sithole demonstrate to the court how he lied on the back of Jackson’s vehicle whilst he was kicked.

Sithole initially said that he did not report the matter to the police because the police station is far from his house and that the vehicles had police stickers on their doors.

Under cross examination Sithole said that he had seen vehicles similar to the ones the accused drove with police stickers on their doors. And that he did not report the matter to the police because he was confused.
