Update: Lonia Mlotshwa testifies about son in coffin

Constable Margaret Bahula has completed her testimony.

During cross examination she was asked about Willem Oosthuyzen’s phone. She said that she was informed by Oosthuyzen’s family that his phone was stolen in Middelburg.

Advocate Wayne Gibbs said his client was already in custody at that time and had no knowledge where his phone was.

Const. Bahula said that nothing was found when the houses of the accused were searched for firearms.

She was adamant that no mention of stolen copper cable was made to her.

Victor Mlotshwa’s mother, Lonia, was next to testify.

The court adjourned when she became emotional after asked how she as a mother felt when she saw the video of her son in a coffin.

Mrs. Mlotshwa said that her son did not want to tell her what happened after he returned without the merchandise she sent him to buy.

She testified that her son had a bruised eye, red mark on his chest, dirty clothing and scratches on his legs.

When asked why they did not go to the doctor, Mrs Mlotshwa said that they did not know what to say to the doctor because they did not have any evidence of what happened.

Court will resume shortly.
