UPDATE: Road cleared for now, protest set to continue

Calm had been restored to the Protea Street area where protesters blocked the Road at the Protea Street entrance to Mhluzi.

Municipal magazine employees were prevented from entering the premises by protesters.

Police and traffic management however negotiated with the group of protesters and around 08:00 municipal employees were allowed back onto the property.

www.mobserver.co.za was told that the protest centered around a bus dispute with the municipality.

It is however still unclear what the protester’s terms and conditions are.

Police have cleared the road from rocks and burning debris.

The protesters however remain on the scene and motorists should remain cautious.
