Eyewitness sees how man is torn in half

An eyewitness told of how he witnessed the horrific event of another man being torn in half during a pile-up accident on the N4 recently. 

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, was underway to Bronkhorstspruit from Middelburg when he was involved in an accident suspected to have been caused by wet road conditions.

“Cars were being flung from the one lane to the other when they reached a certain point,” the man said.

At least 10 cars were involved in the accident.

The witness said that he and another car came to a standstill. The driver of the other car got out whilst he remained seated. A dark sedan crashed into the car infront of him before crashing into his vehicle.

The man standing next to the car was hit and cut in half in the process.

“There was blood all over my bonnet. It was a horrific thing to witness: the man standing there and all of a sudden he is gone.”

• The identity of the man killed is not known.
