Loskop murder victim identified

The murder victim who was found next to the N11 near the Loskop dam wall has been identified by family members as Lungile Psychology Mnisi.

Mr Mnisi, who was either a police reservist or a police constable with the Breyten SAPS, was reported as missing on 15 February.

A month later, on 16 March, his body was found 150km away from his home town, in the bushes near the Loskop dam wall, with his hands bound and a gunshot wound to his head.

His body was discovered by a pedestrian, who ran to the Damwal Filling Station to report his finding to the authorities.

At the time, he could only be identified by his clothing which included black ankle boots, brown trousers and a Transnet jacket.

Www.mobserver.co.za has sent a media inquiry to the provincial media spokesperson for the SAPS, Brigadier Leonard Hlathi, to confirm whether he was a constable or police reservist and to confirm whether he was in fact a state witness in a pending cash-in-transit heist case.

Response has not yet been received by the SAPS and the family members of Mr Mnisi could not be contacted for comment.
