Mkhulu Combined teacher’s in court
The two teachers that were arrested at Mkhulu Combined School yesterday are expected to make their first court appearance on Friday.
Captain Khanyisile Zwane, Middelburg Police Spokesperson, said the teachers were arrested and charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, malicious damage to property and common robbery.
The two male teachers allegedly assaulted another staff member. Learners and teachers picketed outside the Middelburg Magistrate Court in support of the teachers. https://www.citizen.co.za/middelburg-observer/137137/parent-uses-bolt-cutters-to-access-mkhulu-combined-after-clashes-with-principal/
Disputes at the school started last Thursday when parents demanded the removal of the school’s principal, Ms Duduzile Lusenga.
Police had to fire rubber bullets and use pepper spray to disperse the protesting group of parents and students. The principal is being accused of mismanaging school funds and unilaterally hiring and firing educators.
