Blue Ribbon driver assaulted by “Spike-Strips Gang”
Motorists should be extra careful when travelling on the N4, near the Bethal off-ramp and the Van Dyksdrift road, after a Blue Ribbon truck was targeted by the “Spike-Strips Gang” on the N4.
The incident occurred this morning (Tuesday) at about 05:00 near the Bethal off-ramp.
The truck was driving on the highway when it drove over spike strips.
As the truck came to a halt, due to flat tyres, the assailants assaulted the truck driver and his assistant with a firearm and made off with their belongings. Three of the truck’s tyres were damaged.
The two men were transported to the Life Midmed Hospital for medical treatment.
• On March 20, a Columbus Stainless employee tragically lost her life after being hit by a Nissan bakkie while running across the highway to escape her assailants.
Faith Shabangu was driving from eMalahleni to work when she reportedly had a flat tyre after driving over spike strips.
As the car came to a halt, a bewildered Mrs Shabangu attempted to flee the scene, running into oncoming traffic on the highway.
