VIDEO: Thousands flock to banquet hall after Dennesig North stands go on sale

Thousands of residents flocked to the Syndey Choma Banquet Hall on Monday morning, where 691 Dennesig North stands officially went on sale.

Cash sales of the stands were announced by Mayor Diphala Motsepe during last Tuesday’s council sitting. Hundreds upon hundreds of cars lined Walter Sisulu Street and as far down as Frewin Street in Clubville.

Traffic was badly disrupted by the hordes of people flocking to the banquet hall, where municipal officials were so overwhelmed that gates to the hall were closed, and application documents were handed to applicants through the fence.

Traffic and law enforcement officials had their hands full to direct traffic that not only had to dodge parked cars on the pavements but also pedestrians having to walk a number of blocks to obtain their application documents.
