Be vigilant when travelling in the Middelburg CBD

Motorists and residents are advised to be vigilant when travelling through the Middelburg CBD as renewed reports of taxi related violence surfaced.

This article was updated with new information:

14:00 A second warning was circulated on emergency groups of a taxi related violent incident on Samora Machel Street near the bridge at AFGRI Middelburg.

12:15 A voice note warned of an incident where a man was severely assaulted in front of Darlings Roadhouse in Cowen Ntuli Street.

A trusted source said that the incident does not involve the much reported feud between the Nasaret and Middelburg taxi associations.

The source said the incident in Cowen Ntuli Street relates to patrol vehicles for long distance taxi associations trying to prevent private vehicles from picking up commuters.

The Nasaret and Middelburg taxi associations signed an agreement to temporarily halt the feud between the two groups. The source says the agreement expires next week.
