Families displaced by blaze

A Mhluzi family of four is homeless after a fire ravaged their house on Monday evening.

Enock Maloma of the SPCA Middelburg lost all his belongings when a fire broke out in his home at about 17:15. It is still not clear what caused the fire.

Mr Maloma, two daughters and wife have been staying with neighbours since the fire.

•On Tuesday morning. another fire broke out at the Tokomanie Complex.

Lorinda Lategan was with her two dogs when the fire started, she sustained third-degree burns. She was rushed to Life Midmed Hospital and the Middelburg SPCA rescued her dogs.

The fire was reportedly caused by an explosion of a gas bottle.

The family lost everything in the inferno.

Mr Lategan’s daughter and husband are being housed by their eldest daughter CJ Bruce.

Residents are urged to donate clothes, food and mattresses to the distressed families.
