Cellphone thief trapped by quick-thinking ladies

The police came just in time to ferry off a thief after two ladies from the H Esterhuysen Auditor and Accountant Firm trapped an opportunistic criminal who tried to steal a cellphone.

One of the ladies explained that she and her colleague were busy cleaning, when a noise was heard from the company’s kitchenette.

Her colleague initially thought she was in the kitchenette and walked in when she saw him hiding behind the door. She quickly shut the door and locked him in, where he proceeded to surrender the stolen cellphone.

Mid Alarms response officers and the Middelburg SAPS rushed to the scene and took custody of the trapped thief.

The lady explained that the theft follows on another incident last week, when the firm’s window was broken.
