Willie Roos dood – vir ’n dag

Die gemeenskap het almal gerou vir Willie, maar Willie is nie dood nie.

Willie Roos is ’n legende op die dorp, veral onder sy gholfmaats by die buiteklub. Toe nuus bekend word van sy “afsterwe” Sondagmiddag, het boodskappe van simpatie van familie en vriende oral op sosiale media begin instroom.

Die hele dorp, en selfs Willie se gesin, was besig om tot verhaal te kom oor sy dood.

Willie se vrou, Rieth, is Maandagoggend deur www.mobserver.co.za gekontak vir ’n “doodsberig”, toe daar bevestig is dat hy nog lewe.

Rieth het beskryf hoe sy deur hel en terug is, nadat Life Midmed Hospitaal Willie dood verklaar het.

Willie was in die hospitaal opgeneem vir behandeling vir Covid-19, en hulle is om 15:00 Sondagmiddag in kennis gestel dat hy oorlede is. Maandag, toe sy dogter gereed maak om sy besittings te gaan haal, is hulle laat weet hy lewe.

“Ek was deur hel! Ek is natuurlik bly dat hy lewe, maar hoe kan die hospitaal so iets laat gebeur? My kind in Engeland was besig om reëlings te tref om hierheen te reis,” het Rieth aan www.mobserver.co.za gesê.

Kort na die hospitaal se verleentheid, het ’n ander inwoner navore gekom en gesê dat Willie se voorval nie die eerste is nie. ’n Ontstoke inwoner het laat weet dat die selfde met hulle gebeur het, toe hulle pa in Januarie daar opgeneem is.

“Ek het uit skok vir hulle gesê “dit kan nie wees nie, is jy seker dis my pa?” toe hulle agter kom dis nie die voorletters en van wat ek vir hulle gegee het nie.” Haar pa is die volgende dag dood.

Life Midmed Hospitaal het die volgende kommentaar gelewer:

“We sincerely regret that due to a deceased patient’s surname being mispronounced, the incorrect family was contacted and informed of their loved one’s death. Life Midmed Hospital management has engaged with the affected, misinformed family and sincerely apologised for having caused such unnecessary distress.”
