Roads in Mhluzi still barricaded

Protesters in Mhluzi have barricaded roads in the area, however, major roads remain open.

Residents in Extensions 4,5,6,7 and 8 have blocked roads with rocks and burning tyres.

No protest action has been reported in other areas.

The ongoing unrest comes after the municipal increase in July. Police officers and law enforcers are currently stationed at the municipal offices amid protest threats.

Residents halted protests on Friday and Saturday.

Protests resumed on Sunday evening after a community meeting at the Kees Taljaard Sports Complex.
