Mmusi blows whistle on Gupta’s Optimum Trojan Horse hijack attempt
Mmusi Maimane is currently giving evidence to Optimum Coal Mine investigators at the request of Eskom CEO André de Ruyter.
Mr De Ruyter confirmed that Eskom has launched an investigation – led by an external forensic firm – into the legitimacy of Optimum Coal Mine’s Business Rescue Plan, agreed to by Eskom and Optimum’s creditors in September 2020.
This is significant as One South Africa Movement (OSA) Chief Activist Mmusi Maimane requested the investigation after raising a red flag and revealing a web of interconnected facts and decisions taken, which appear to indicate that Gupta affiliates are attempting to re-enter the energy sector via a Trojan Horse.
The Guptas have been clinging to Optimum Mine through various subsidiaries, blocking business rescue attempts with more than 40 high court petitions already.
