Gentle giant receives gifted size 17 boots

Leandro Cordier gives a new meaning to the adage of being too big for one’s shoes.

The bashful 18-year-old wears size 17 shoes, which, according to his mother, Marthie, are very hard to find in South Africa. Marthie, reached out to Boots for Africa to help her son find rugby boots that fit him.

Boots for Africa’s Tracey and Gavin Hendry contacted stakeholders in Australia and New York to also help in the search.

Samantha Binetter in New York, and her sister Dalya Shaw, who resides in Australia and is the founder of Boots 4 Ben, finally replied to Marthie’s plea and donated the much-needed boots.

After months of anxiously waiting, the boots were shipped from New York to South Africa, and the size 17 Adidas boots were gifted to Leandro on Sunday.

An emotional Marthie thanked Boots for Africa for their generous donation. Leandro also donated his size 15 rugby boots to the organisation for other children in need.
