Another week without Wi-Fi and telecommunications says Telkom

Large parts of the CBD and its residential, business and industrial areas, will remain without Telkom Wi-Wi and limited telecommunications following the cable theft running to its main distribution hub.

The cable, an old one, which was stolen, is not available in Telkom’s stores Operational Manager Doctor Masemola confirmed minutes ago.

Telkom is in the process of procuring the necessary cable which is not widely available. They are presently in talks with a KZN supplier for delivery of the cable, which will have to be fitted and trenched upon arrival.

According to Mr Masemola residents can expect at least another week of disruptions.

According to engineers on site, sabotage is believed to be behind the crippling theft.

Businesses like OK Meyer Street and its affiliate bottle store and restaurant, have been without any telecommunication services since last Saturday after the cable was stolen the previous night.

Business owners demand better communication with Telkom in regards to alternative plans.
