Man killed in taxi dispute
A man was shot dead near Hlalamnandi at about 15:00 in an ongoing taxi rivalry.

The shooting comes on the back of early morning protests by the members of the Middelburg District Taxi Association( MDTA). MDTA members blocked the N11 at around 08:00, expressing frustration about being unable to operate in Extension 24 and Rockdale.
Alcohol bottles were seen littering the N11 close to the body of the deceased man.
It is not clear what led to the shooting and which taxi assocation the man belongs to.
Armed police officers and paramedics are currently on the scene. Motorists should avoid the N11 if possible.
Both associations’ operating licenses were recently restored after they had been revoked by the MEC for transport around two months ago.
The province has not responded to the renewed violence yet.
