Cyclists arrive in Middelburg

The Mpumalanga Cycle Tour kicked off this morning from Forever Resorts Loskop dam at 09:00.

Participants are currently making their way towards Hendrina after placing the Kranspoort Pass behind them.

The planned route for the first stage of the race, which was supposed to pass through town itself, was disturbed after incidents of taxi violence near Nasaret. Cyclists stopped at the weighbridge on the N11 (Loskop), shortly after 10:00, where their bicycles were loaded and they were transported to the N11 (Hendrina).

Motorists travelling between Middelburg, Hendrina and Carolina are urged to drive cautiously. The first stage of the race will end today in Badplaas.
